But the TBX consistently kills, every time I gig it or record with it. If the Hayseed was around when I bought my TBX, I might have one of those instead. They're the best sounding AC-30's Vox made after the 60's. The AC-30TBX's PCB construction is in no way a hindrance to its tone or reliability. Though, that doesn't matter, the sound is what matters. So depending on what year you get, it may or may not be more 'true' to an original AC-30 circuit. The Hayseed 30 went through some circuit tweaks over time. I put a new GZ34 in, and it powered right back up. I'm not crazy about the *idea* of the PCB construction, but I've been gigging mine hard for over 15 years and the only issue I ever had was a rectifier tube fail on me and kick the fuse. I'll never sell mine, and I have 2 vintage Voxes (AC-50 heads). If you have experience with one amp but not the other, please feel free to share your impressions, I'm looking for as much info I get. Is anyone of the opinion that I would be scoring a significantly better amp if went the Valvetech route? I have played Matchless and BadCat amps in the AC30 vein (though I'm aware they are different beasts), how does they Hayseed stack up to those amps in comparison? And they are all within a similar price point though I would need to buy a speaker cabinet if I elected to buy the Valvetech. I'm asking because there are currently a few different Korg Era AC30's available to me locally but there is also a head version of the Hayseed 30 that I've been checking out for sale online. I know that the Hayseed is hand wired and the Vox is PCB but are there other big differences in terms of quality of components? Are they on par as far as tone goes? Is one noticeably better than the other? It is such a polished product (even though the BG's are still very rough) and alot of care in the animations and movement were so refreshing!
